Microdosing reflections

Curious about microdosing?

In this course you’ll discover:

  • Gradual transformation: Unlike a full psychedelic experience, microdosing spreads the transformative benefits across your day-to-day life, allowing you to engage with your tasks and challenges without the intensity of a full blown trip.

  • Cultivate mindfulness: Learn how microdosing can expand your awareness. This expanded awareness is not just about perceiving more of your external world—it's about deepening understanding of yourself and your relationships.

  • Path to personal wellbeing: Harness increased awareness to cultivate mindfulness, increase emotional resilience and enhance cognition, leading to a clearer understanding of your journey towards personal healing and growth.

  • Microdosing Integration: Discover practical steps to integrate microdosing and the insights the practice offers into daily living.

Albert Hofmann, the Swiss chemist who discovered LSD, was one of the first in the Western world to explore microdosing. In his later years, he took small amounts of LSD to enhance his clarity, creativity, and connection to nature—viewing the substance not just as a scientific breakthrough, but as a sacred tool for consciousness exploration. Around the same time, Stanislav Grof, a pioneer of transpersonal psychology, was investigating the therapeutic potential of low-dose psychedelics in clinical settings. He found that small, sub-perceptual doses could help people access deeper layers of the psyche while staying emotionally grounded—facilitating healing, insight, and self-awareness without the intensity of a full-dose experience.

Long before the term microdosing emerged, some Indigenous communities—particularly in the Amazon—used low doses of plant medicines like ayahuasca as part of ongoing spiritual, relational, and medicinal practices. These doses were not typically aimed at inducing visions, but rather served subtle purposes: enhancing connection to the natural world, maintaining energetic balance, supporting physical or emotional wellbeing, and deepening communication with plant spirits. While distinct from the Western concept of microdosing, these ancestral traditions reflect a long-standing understanding of how to engage with psychoactive plants in non-visionary, relational ways—offering important context for today’s renewed interest in low-dose psychedelic practices.
