Our Mission

Psygaia is a nonprofit dedicated to advancing psychedelic literacy and responsible practice in service of planetary health.

We develop and share research-informed educational frameworks that help people engage with psychedelics safely, intentionally, and ethically. Our work integrates insights from systems science, ecological medicine, enactive cognition, and long-standing cultural traditions — remaining grounded in empirical research and lived practice.

We understand psychedelic experiences not as isolated events, but as phenomena shaped by — and capable of reshaping — psychological, social, cultural, and ecological relationships. When engaged with care and preparation, they can deepen self-awareness, strengthen bonds of community, and foster a renewed sense of participation in the living world. At the same time, psychedelics are not a panacea. Their value depends on context, preparation, integration, and ethical accountability. Psygaia exists to help make these conditions better understood and more widely accessible.

Our Approach

Education: We create accessible, systems-based, and research-informed resources that support psychedelic literacy, preparation, integration, and ethical responsibility across diverse audiences.

Community: Through Psygaia's Circle and affiliated events, we cultivate peer-based learning, shared inquiry, and mutual support among individuals and communities engaging with psychedelics in service of planetary health.

Support: We provide non-clinical guidance, resources, and structured spaces for reflection and integration — helping individuals navigate psychedelic experiences with care, before and after they occur — without positioning Psygaia as a treatment provider or authority over personal experience.

Research: We are developing ecologically grounded frameworks for understanding psychedelic experience, in collaboration with academic partners and, over time, through community-based inquiry within Psygaia's own network.

Current Initiatives

How to Use Psychedelics (howtousepsychedelics.com): A digital hub for psychedelic education, resources, and interactive tools designed to support safe, intentional, and well-informed practice.

The Psygaia Framework: Interdisciplinary research exploring the relationships between psychedelic experience, ecological perception, and planetary health — informed by systems theory, enactive cognition, biosemiotics, and the broader literature on nature-relatedness and wellbeing.

Psygaia's Circle: A free online education and support network offering community integration events, shared learning spaces, and access to experienced guides.

AFTERGLOW: A seasonal, community-centred event series focused on integration, culture, and collective reflection, developed in collaboration with conferences and organizations across North America.

Ethics & Responsibility

Psygaia acknowledges the millennia-long relationships between Indigenous peoples and psychedelic plants and fungi, and the harms caused by their recent commercialisation and misappropriation. We are committed to ethical engagement, reciprocity, and ongoing learning — recognising that meaningful relationship-building with Indigenous communities and knowledge systems requires time, humility, and sustained accountability.

We do not operate as a centralized authority over psychedelic practice. We aim to offer shared reference points — for preparation, integration, safety, and ethical responsibility — that individuals, communities, and practitioners can adapt to their own contexts.

Looking Ahead

Psygaia is working toward a future in which psychedelic education and practice contribute to a healthier relationship between humans and the living systems they are part of. Our long-term vision includes expanded research and educational programming, retreats, and facilitator training. We welcome collaboration, inquiry, and dialogue from those who share an interest in advancing responsible psychedelic practice.

Action on behalf of life transforms. Because the relationship between self and the world is reciprocal, it is not a question of first getting enlightened or saved and then acting. As we work to heal the earth, the earth heals us.
